Check out our new newsletter! We called it "STRIЧKA" (strichka) for many reasons. It means a ribbon in Ukrainian, and it also contains the word "richka" which translates into a river. Given that DESNA is the name of a famous river in Ukraine, we feel STRIЧKA is the perfect title for our newsletter. You can browse through it online or download for higher quality. Enjoy the issue! Ukrainian dance lessons wow the public

The best part of any festival is when you have the crowd clapping, laughing, stomping and dancing to live music. During this year's annual Toronto Ukrainian Festival, DESNA boosted the audience with an hourly dose of 15-min Ukrainian dance lessons. We taught parents, kids and friends the essence of Ukrainian moves on Saturday and Sunday at the Runnymede Stage. Our enthusiastic students learned how to polka and turn. Entertaining Ukrainian crowd in L.A.

DESNA has made a scene again in California! This time at the city of stars - Los Angeles. On August 21, 2011 We put on a show at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre for the 20th Anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. Hollywood was a mere 3 U of T campuses away. Although we saw no Ryan Gosling or Johnny Depp in a pirate costume, DESNA enjoyed the windy pacific beach in Malibu at a birthday party with the coolest people from Metro Goldwyn Mayer.
